MY AMP GOES TO 11

Q:So me and my nephew randomly started talking about bodies, he's five, he was really interested in learning about the human anatomy, but what I googled were mostly pictures nothing too helpful that he could understand and I don't know enough about anatomy to answer all the questions he had. Do you have any suggestions on websites or something I could use so he could learn about all the stuff he wants to know? I love how interested and excited he was. Please and thank you for the help! :)

Ok first of all let me start out by saying I think it’s WONDERFUL that you’re so encouraging.

Now to answer your question, this was my very first book and the beginning of my fascination with anatomy and biology. I wouldn’t recommend buying the entire set since some of the information is probably outdated, but the first volume should be fine. For more up-to-date books, check out these.

As far as websites go (which you two might enjoy more) check out 10 Terrific Human Body And Anatomy For Kids Websites.

There’s a real reason we’re so ignorant of world affairs. The US is the world’s largest war profiteering nation. In order for American workers to continue creating this, they must be desensitized of the horror of it. We must not see the faces of those who we allow to die, or we will stop. Our education system has built this people, and education is the only way to set them free. I have a lot of hope that we will break this cycle, but until we are screaming it, they won’t hear us.

Got out-nerded today

Today was my first day in Chem 201. I usually show up to class early enough to sit in the front row (yes i’m nerdy like that) but showed up right on time since I’m a TA for 3 other lower division chem classes and just got out of a meeting (also nerdy like that). And THIS is what I see sitting in front of me.

This is Justin. And although it’s the first day of class and we’re not having lab today, he shows up ready to treat people in case there’s a flesh-eating viral epidemic of zombie-apocalyptic proportions.

And since I’m fond of making lists, I took full inventory of the things he felt were absolutely necessary to bring today (and also nerdy like that) :

  • lab coat
  • huge ass green calculator
  • 120 ct box of latex gloves purchased at Walgreens
  • 2 pairs of goggles (in case one gets spit on by a zombie?)
  • clip board
  • 2 chem textbooks, 1 that’s not even for the class and I know for a fact this is his only chem class
  • big laminated periodic table
  • 3 spiral bound notebooks
  • something in a 3 in x 3 in x 1 in black box he kept fiddling with, then stuck in the pocket of his very tight jeans, then took back out again during a 10 min break… turns out it was some sort of magnetic top toy

Clearly I have been out-nerded today… I’m ok with it.
